2013 is an election year in New York City. Good Day NY is meeting all the candidates.
On Thursday, Bill Thompson, 59, and former NYC comptroller visited the show to talk about his mayoral run.
"I think I want to be a mayor that represents all New Yorkers-- a mayor who focuses on that we get education right; a mayor who continues to keep crime down. I (want to be) a mayor who builds on the past," said Thompson.
In 2009, Thompson ran against Mayor Michael Bloomberg and came within four points of beating him.
"We're going to into a period when the current mayor is leaving every municipal contract about to expire. We're going to enter a period of collaboration. I've talked to them (unions) about doing things differently."
