NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

New Jersey officials say several areas of Liberty State Park damaged by Superstorm Sandy will reopen to the public this weekend.

Several trails and fields at the park were cleaned and repaired. They were soaked and damaged in a storm surge during Sandy.

Officials say parts of the park, including one-half of the scenic Liberty Walk, which offers views of the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline, are open.

Officials estimate that the remainder of the River Walkway will be open by the spring.
