Adairsville man's tornado video goes viral

Posted: Updated:
ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. -

It's been nearly a week since a tornado ripped through Bartow and Gordon counties, and one of the most lasting images from the devastating twister was captured with a cell phone camera.  A Bartow County man shot that footage, and he says it's been in great demand ever since.

Terry Timm says his first thought was to pull out his cell phone and record the image of the twister because he'd never seen anything like it.  Now, he says he feels a bit famous because his footage of the tornado has gone viral. Timm says he has even gotten requests from overseas to use it.

Timm had just arrived at his Adairsville office when he saw clouds forming in the sky and noticed a rotation.  From there, he says it took about 10 seconds for it to become a twister.

"The clouds formed, the funnel set down and as soon as it hit the ground, debris started flying and I pulled my phone out to video," said Timm.

Timm, a Bartow County native, says he was most afraid because at first he wasn't sure which way the tornado was going.  He says he ran back inside and told everyone else to go to the back of the office.  But, once the anxiety passed, Timm says the most memorable part of it was seeing the debris caught up in the tornado.
