Typhoid fever scare at Purdue University

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

There's a health scare on the campus of Purdue University. An employee who works at three different campus restaurants in West Lafayette, Indiana has Typhoid Fever.

Typhoid is a life threatening illness, caused by salmonella and symptoms usually start a week or two after a person is exposed to the bacteria.

Health officials say they think the employee contracted the illness while traveling in another country.
