WEST CHESTER, Pa. -

Flames flickered and friends embraced all in memory of Sean Casey Thursday.

"He was always a light within a dark room and right now he's in a better place," said fellow band member Brennan Windsor.

School officials say the  20-year-old West Chester University junior died overnight from bacterial meningitis.

"He was loved by so many people and he's really going to be missed," lamented friend Megan Arguell said.

A sea of people at his vigil outside the Sykes Union building served as a testament of that love.

His fellow band and  music fraternity members took turns sharing memories of the their friend.

Sean was a  music major who is friends say wanted to be a country music or rock star. He was also in the honors program and a student leader.

"He was one of the nicest kids ever," cried his Whitehall High School choir teacher Josh Dearing.

He says despite being a talented musician, it was the 20-year-old's passion to uplift others that will always be remembered most.

"He warmed my heart," explained his friend Jessica Micchelly. "He made me smile everyday and I loved working with him."

"He could break even the tensest moment, " said Dearing. "The world is so much more worse off with him not here."
