Three people were injured early Saturday in a crash involving a car and two taxicabs at a busy Lincoln Park intersection.
About 2:15 a.m., a Ford Crown Victoria taxicab was headed southbound on Halsted Street, in order to make a lefthand turn onto Fullerton Avenue, when it was struck by a Subaru that was headed west on Fullerton, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
That collision resulted in the Subaru veering off and striking a Toyota Camry taxicab that was behind the Ford, waiting to make a lefthand turn, as well.
There were two passengers in the Ford taxicab, a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, Perez said. They were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, with minor injuries and were expected to be treated and released.
The Subaru driver, a 22-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with "bumps and bruises," Perez said. His condition was stable as of later Saturday.
According to Fire Media Affairs, one person was taken to Illinois Masonic and two to Northwestern Memorial, all originally listed in serious to critical condition.
The driver of the Crown Victoria taxicab, a 61-year-old man, was cited for failing to yield while making a left turn, Perez said.
All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene, according to police.
The police investigation into the crash was still under way Saturday morning. The driver of the Subaru may have been impaired, but results of tests on him were not yet known.
