GLENVIEW, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A 21-year-old Chicago woman was killed Saturday night after she lost control of her car while trying to pass another vehicle on the Tri-State Tollway near Glenview.
Danielle M. Pisterzi, of the 5700 block of North Nina Avenue, was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital at 11:52 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy Saturday was inconclusive and pending further studies, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Just before 11 p.m., Pisterzi tried to pass another motorist in the southbound lanes on I-294 when she lost control, struck a median and rolled her car, according to the Illinois State Police.
The car then reentered traffic and was struck by at least one other vehicle, state police said.
Sometime during the chain of events, Pisterzi, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from her car.
State Police closed all southbound lanes of the tollway after the crash in order to conduct an investigation, but those lanes were later reopened early Sunday.
No one was issued a citation for the accident. The four people inside the vehicle struck by Pisterzi's car were unharmed, police said.
