Once again, supermodel Kate Upton is denying her long-rumored relationship with Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander.

"Actually, I'm single right now," the all-American beauty told FOX 2's Jason Carr Thursday when asked about her reported island vacation with Verlander over the New Year's holiday.

Upton, who was all smiles during the interview, turned stone-faced as she delivered a rather curt response to the question. "So, um, I spent my holiday in Melbourne, Florida," said Upton.

To cut the tension, Sports Illustrated Senior Editor MJ Day yelled out, "Happy Valentine's Day!" (Click the video player to watch the exchange)

In early January, the New York Post reported that the SI Swimsuit Edition cover girl and former AL MVP spent New Year's Eve at the Ritz-Carlton on St. Thomas.

Having been at the resort since before New Year's Eve, Upton and Verlander have been seen going on walks around the grounds and by the pool. But one spy said they were keeping a low profile - "He keeps a conservative distance, but still you can tell they are dating."

Rumors of their relationship first began after Upton was seen in Verlander's Comerica Park suite in July wearing a Tigers hat.

The two first met in early 2012 on the set for a MLB 2K12 video game commercial.
