Two men have been charged with growing marijuana after authorities found a mini-pot farm in a north suburban home.
Lake Villa police developed some intelligence on a marijuana drug-growing operation and then worked with the Lake County Sheriff's Office's Special Investigation Unit to make the bust in Antioch Township.
Lake Villa Police Chief Ron Roth said Friday that police executed a search warrant Thursday at 41607 N. Lotus Ave., and found a growing operation that included 10 marijuana plants. Police also confiscated 163 grams of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia.
Christopher Jansen, 45, was charged with three felonies, including unlawful delivery of cannabis, unlawful production of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis. Rusty Meyers, 20, was charged with misdemeanors including unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men listed the Lotus Avenue house as their residence.
"Drug enforcement has no boundaries as in this case, where drug intel developed in Lake Villa led officers to the Lotus Avenue address," said Roth.
