PHILADELPHIA -

A 58-year-old woman pushed her husband out of the way at the last second before a minivan hit and killed her Sunday morning along Frankford Avenue.

The woman was hit while walking with her husband along Frankford Avenue and Comly Street around 10 a.m. Police say the minivan involved in the crash came to a stop after it hit a tree.

Police have identified the woman as Teresa Marquard. Police say her husband was not injured.

FOX 29's Chris O'Connell spoke with Marquard's daughter, who said her mother pushed her father out of the way right before the crash. Marquard's husband was not injured.

Police say the minivan crossed into the oncoming lane and onto the sidewalk at Comly Street where the two were walking.

The driver of the van, a 33-year-old man, was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital. Police tell FOX 29 they are investigating the possibility that the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.

Police have not released the identity of the driver.

Marquard was known as a fixture in the city's Wissinoming neighborhood. Neighbors say she would always help neighbors keep their homes and the street clean.
