CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Residents from Chicago's South Side and the south suburbs will vote in a special primary election in just one day, to elect a new representative for Illinois' 2nd congressional district.
Just hours before voters head to the polls to choose candidates to elect as Jesse Jackson Jr.'s replacement, two of the candidates are revealing some personal information.
Alderman Anthony Beale and former state representative Robin Kelly have shared their tax return forms with FOX 32.
After Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife admitted to cheating on their taxes last week, FOX 32 News asked those who want to replace him to come clean.
Ald. Anthony Beale was the first leading contender to reveal his 2011 tax returns. Beale filed his taxes separately from his wife, who is a homemaker reporting an income of $85,317, His US tax: $11,969. Nearly all of the Alderman's income came from the city of Chicago.
By comparison, rival Robin Kelly reported income of $145,616; paying tax of $26,179. She filed separately, too, from her husband, a physician with Boston Medical Group.
Deborah Halvorson was the other candidate we asked last week to produce her Form 1040. She said her accountant had it and would deliver it to us on Monday.
Halvorson, Kelly and Beale all paid homage on Sunday to Frank Zuccarelli at a reception sponsored by the powerful Democratic committeeman of Thornton Township.
For more information on all the 2nd district candidates you can vote for in Tuesday's special primary election, please see the Illinois Board of Elections' list.
