A Gary couple were arrested early Sunday and charged with a felony count of theft for sneaking into a movie.
Lendsey Harbin, 49, and Delilah Harbin, 40, of Gary were arrested just after midnight Sunday morning at the Portage 16 Imax theater, 6550 U.S. 6.
According to the police report, the couple were spotted by an off-duty Portage officer working security at the theater.
The officer spotted the Harbins exit one of the theaters and walk down the hallway. Lendsey Harbin's attire, described by police as "very colorful clothing, white vest, white dress pants and a bright red shirt under the vest" is what drew the officer's attention to the couple.
Police watched for the couple and found them sitting in another theater. The couple continued to sit in the theater as the previews ran and the movie -- Warm Bodies -- started to play. Police approached them and asked for their ticket stubs.
Neither the Harbins could find their ticket stubs.
Delilah Hardin finally told police, "I know we done wrong." The couple told police they snuck into the theater because they had been to a funeral all day and just were not thinking correctly. They later allegedly admitted to having sneaked into the theater three or four other times.
The price of each ticket was $6.75. The couple was taken to Porter County Jail.
