Mars rover Curiosity gets sample of rock dust

Posted: Updated:

The Mars rover Curiosity has made significant advances since it landed in Summer 2012.

Curiosity drilled into its first Mars rock and has successfully transferred a tablespoon-sized sample of rock dust to onboard laboratories for inspection.

The transfer comes from a rock in Gale Crater and is a first for a rover on Mars.

FOX 10's Syleste Rodriguez talks to ASU Professor Jim Bell, who is part of the team working on the Rover.
