A top executive at Atlanta City Hall says someone stole nearly $3,000 of her personal belongings and cash.
The executive said that the expensive items, including a pair of Tiffany and Company eyeglasses, a pair of diamond and cash were stolen from her locked private office in the finance department wing of City Hall.
The woman said that she removed the diamond earrings because they were getting in the way of her headset. She locked them up in the office, believing they would be secure.
Earlier this week, FOX 5's Morse Diggs reported a theft involving an aide to the mayor. In that case, a private security guard working the City Hall door has been charged.
Those incidents are unrelated, according to officials.
David Bennett, an aide to Mayor Kasim Reed whose responsibilities include management of the building, said that if they find any employees involved in theft, they are arrested.
