VATICAN CITY -

The congregation of cardinals is scheduled to meet Monday to discuss preliminary work and church agendas as they draw closer to scheduling a date for selecting a new pope, FOX News reports.

Sunday was the first Sunday without a pope after Benedict XVI officially resigned Thursday.

For many of the faithful, it was quite poignant to be out on Saint Peter's Square looking up at the pope's window at the Apostolic Palace, where he normally reads on Sundays and seeing it sealed off.

Some said they were praying for the as yet to be named new pope and others just said they were glad to know that the Pope Emeritus is still praying for them.

In the meantime, the bookies and the aficionados around Rome have said the most probable date for the new conclave appears to be March 11, but the cardinals themselves have not yet set a date.
