Elgin woman fatally stabbed, according to autopsy

ELGIN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 33-year-old northwest suburban woman found dead inside her town home early Saturday was stabbed to death, according to the results of an autopsy conducted Monday.

Elgin police were called to the home of Lisa E. Koziol-Ellis at 1 Garden Crescent Ct. at 2:30 a.m. Saturday and found her deceased.

A Monday autopsy found the preliminary cause of death tobe multiple stab wounds, A statement from the Kane County Coroner's office said. Toxicology samples were also collected and sent to a forensic lab.

"Responding officers deemed the circumstances of the death to be suspicious and notified investigators," Elgin Police Lt. Dan O'Shea in a Saturday release.

Residents of the building said they were questioned by police on whether they had heard or seen anything suspicious. They said the woman had lived in the townhouse complex for less than a week.

No suspects were in custody as of Monday, and police are asking the community for assistance.

"Residents should be alert and call 911 if they see suspicious activity occurring," Theriault said.
