Flagstaff police find missing young autistic boy

Posted: Updated:

Authorities in northern Arizona say they're found a missing 11-year-old autistic boy from Flagstaff.

Flagstaff police say Brandon Shinko was last seen at Kinsey Elementary School near Northern Arizona University at 11 a.m. Monday when he went missing.

He was found Monday evening at an apartment complex and reunited with his family.

Brandon's mom Christina Shinko told FOX 10 the boy was supposed to be rewarded for good behavior but his reward was taken away -- that's what set him off.

He apparently told his teacher he was going to the bathroom and just walked out of school. He says the gate was open, but that has not been confirmed.

Authorities say Shinko was off his medication.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
