MACON, Ga. (AP) - Diamond DeShields scored 24 points to lead Norcross past North Gwinnett 63-42 Saturday night in the GHSA Class AAAAAA girls state championship game.

DeShields, who won the Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year award from the Atlanta Tipoff Club in February as the nation's top player, led the Blue Devils to their third state championship in four years.

Shayla Cooper added 20 points for Norcross, which lost two earlier matchups to the Bulldogs.

Senior Lexie Brown scored 20 points to lead North Gwinnett.

Norcross (28-5) put together the best shooting performance by a girls' team in any of the seven state championship games by shooting 62.5% (20 of 32).

The Bulldogs (30-2) struggled to find any consistency from the floor. They made just 2 of 14 shots in the third quarter to fall behind by 23 and shot 27.3% (15 of 55) in the game.
