PHILADELPHIA -

When the elevator that helps 63-year-old heart patient Phyllis Montgomery broke down, she didn't know who else to call.

Montgomery was forced to literally crawl up the stairs of her home after the elevator broke down.

She called FOX 29 for help and we called our friends at Seventh Street Medical Supply in Feasterville.

Employees connected us with West Chester based Pincus Elevator Company, where the boss agreed to donate a $1,700 hydraulic pump and motor assembly needed to fix Montgomery's elevator.

The employees at Pincus Elevator Company also offered to install everything, free of charge.

After three months of lost mobility, Montgomery is on the move again.

The Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation says it puts all of its money into buying equipment for low-income disabled people and that leaves it without any funds for ongoing repairs or maintenance.

But thanks to our generous FOX 29 viewers, FOX 29 is getting results.
