Suspect poses as nurse to swindle man out of over $1,000

Posted: Updated:

An 87-year-old man was scammed out of over $1,000 after a woman convinced him she was his wife's nurse.

Glendale Police say the man was approached while shopping in a Wal-Mart near Northern Avenue and Loop 101 on Feb. 18.

A woman allegedly told him she was taking care of his wife while she was in the hospital and would provide personal care for her if given a loan.

Police say the man didn't know he was being scammed and drove the woman, along with another woman and a child, to his home.

The man gave the two suspects over $1,000 in cash and his credit card number and then drove them back to Wal-Mart.

The suspects possibly left in a white Chevrolet crew cab pickup truck.

Police say the suspects spent about $2,000 on the man's credit card before the account could be closed.

The first female suspect is described as 35-to 45-years-old, 5'4" to 5'6" inches tall, 150 to 160 pounds, with brown shoulder length hair.

The second female suspect appears to be approximately 30-years-old, 5'4" to 5'6" inches tall, 130 pounds, with brown hair.

The suspect's ethnicities are unknown, but both women had medium complexions.

They also had a male child with them appearing to be 8-to 12-years-old.
