A 24-year-old store clerk was stabbed to death Saturday during an early morning robbery at a northwest suburban gas station.
Rescuers called to Thornton's Gas Station at 2 North Barrington Road found Anandkumar Jaiswal bleeding heavily from several stab wounds to the chest about 4:30 a.m., Streamwood police said in a release.
Jaiswal, of the 6700 block of Valley View Road in Hanover Park, died about an hour later at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Police said Jaiswal's killer is a white man standing between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet, who wore dark clothing and covered face during the attack. Surveillance footage shows the man, wearing one white shoe and one dark-colored one, holding a knife while taking money from a cash register, police said.
Robbery appears to be the motive of the slaying, police said.
Anyone with information that may help solve the murder is asked to call the Streamwood police Investigations Division at (630) 736-3700. Anonymous tips can be left at (630) 736-3719.
