LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. -

Some parents in Lehigh County are just now finding out about an incident where a student was spotted with a stun gun inside of an area high school days earlier.

South Whitehall Township police tell FOX 29 the student was spotted holding a stun gun provided by another student inside Parkland High School on Monday. Police say a teacher quickly notified a school resource officer, the teens were arrested and no one was injured.

Nearly a week later, on Sunday, parents were sent an email by school officials informing them that the weapon was found.

"There was no incident on campus and nobody was hurt," the email in part read. "The investigation revealed that the student had received the taser (stun gun) earlier that morning from another student. This constitutes a violation of the Parkland School District weapons policy and any student who violates this policy is subject to appropriate discipline."

Parents who have students who go to school in the area told FOX 29 they were concerned that parents of the high school were finding out days after the incident took place.

"I think parents should be notified right away, as soon as the incident happened on Monday," mom Corinna Troxell told FOX 29.

Troxell says her kids go to Parkland Elementary School.Still, she says she wasn't pleased the administration didn't send the email out sooner.

Calls made by FOX 29 to the school district were not returned.

Police say the two students face disorderly conduct and prohibited weapons charges.
