CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning Near North Side businesses of an increase in burglaries on two nearby blocks.

The burglars force their way into buildings with multiple closed stores then remove the glass panels on the front doors and steal property, cash, and business checks, according to an alert from Area Central detectives.

The burglars broke into three stores in the 300 block of West Superior Street between 12:01 a.m. and 11 a.m. March 24, police said. On the same night, the burglars also robbed three stores around the corner in the 700 block of North Franklin Street between 4:20 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. March 24, police said.

There is no description of the burglars.

Police are advising area businesses to keep the perimeter of businesses well-lit, keep doors and windows secure and repair broken windows, doors or locks immediately.

Anyone with information about the burglaries should call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8384.
