Trial in Horne hit & run case delayed again

PHOENIX (AP) - Trial in the misdemeanor hit & run case against Attorney General Tom Horne has been delayed again and now is set to begin in late May.

The trial in Phoenix city court was set to begin Tuesday but Horne's lawyer asked for a delay because he is handling a trial in federal court. The judge in the case has reset trial for May 28.

Horne was charged in October with not stopping or leaving a note after he backed a borrowed car he was driving into another vehicle. He has pleaded not guilty. The incident happened in March 2012 and was witnessed by FBI agents tailing Horne.

Horne's lawyers believe the agents were following him as part of a campaign finance investigation. No criminal charges were filed.
