City works to fill thousands of potholes on area roadways

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago area residents had it pretty easy on the roads over the winter. But now that spring's in the air, the potholes are popping up.

The city said it already filled more than 100,000 of them this month. Compared to just 64,000 in the entire month of March last year, that's a 56% increase.

The Chicago Department of Transportation says that they have had about an average of 6,000 potholes repaired daily by 27 crews.

In the 19th ward alone, they have been fielding phone calls from people about 900 potholes so far.

There's a huge one at 99th and Claremont, where FOX 32 reported from live Friday morning, and every time a car rolls over it , it just makes you cringe.

Pothole damage has led to flat tires all over the Chicago area. Take care of your wheels, and try to avoid these craters!

To report pothole locations in your neighborhood, call 311 or on Chicago 311.
