MARTA launched a free smartphone application that allows customers to send texts and photos to MARTA police about suspicious activity on Friday.
The "See & Say" app can be downloaded from the iTunes Store or the Android Market.
MARTA officials say the app is designed for environments with limited cell service. If a customer loses cellular service while using the app, the text or photo will be sent to police dispatchers immediately once a signal has been re-established.
They say the app will also alert customers to transit service delays, and to receive alerts from MARTA police.
The app is not intended to replace 911 emergency calls, but provides an extra layer of security for customers, say MARTA officials.
