ATLANTA -

The excitement is building for baseball at the ballpark. Workers spent Friday getting Turner Field ready for the Atlanta Braves' home opener.

John Gustafson's family was on their way home to dc, after a week in Florida when the warm weather, and the sight of Turner Field inspired them pull off the interstate.

"From a family standpoint -- my mom's 82 -- they calls the grandkids and they talk about the games. Baseball is just fantastic. I can't wait for it to start," said Gustafson.

Tyrone Wilson brought his sons to the ballpark on Friday to buy tickets.

"I just enjoy hanging out with the guys. It's the thing my father used to do with me, so I wanted to pass down the tradition," Wilson said.

The Woodalls took the day off to get in a tour of Turner Field.

Crews still have a lot of work to do. On Friday, workers power-washed the stadium, painted the concrete walls and applied huge stickers to the padded walls in the outfield.

They'll work up until the gates open Monday, getting the park ready for a sold out crowd and hopefully a season that's beginning marks the start of spring and ends deep in the fall.
