PHILADELPHIA -

It almost sounds like an April Fools' joke, but the Phillies say balloons placed around Philadelphia Monday that had free tickets inside were no prank.

According to the Phillies official Twitter account, the balloons were left with tickets to the team's opening homestand inside.

The Phillies opened the 2013 season Monday night in Atlanta against the Braves, but return to Philadelphia for the home opener Friday against the Royals at Citizens Bank Park.

"This is NOT an April Fools' Day Joke. Come and get 'em...if you can find them!" A tweet sent earlier Monday read on the Phillies Twitter account.

Throughout the day, the team tweeted the locations of the balloons and, in some cases, pictures of the lucky fans who happened to find them.
