NJ Man Found Dead In Home Police Believe Was Targeted

Posted: Updated:
GLOUCESTER COUNTY, N.J. -

Investigators in Gloucester County believe the home where a 54-year-old Franklin Township man was found dead was targeted and that his death was not a random act.

The man, who the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office has identified as John McConnell, was found Monday night by his brother.

Police say the man lived alone in his Main Road home.

Investigators announced on Tuesday they believed the crime was not a random act and that the McConnell home was specifically targeted.

The results from an autopsy revealed McConnell died from blunt force trauma and positional asphyxiation.

If you have any information that you think might help investigators, you're asked to call the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit at 856-384-5500.
