PHILADELPHIA -

Police say it was the quick actions of an employee of a Philadelphia Subway shop that kept two men from stealing cash from the cash register.

The robbery was reported on March 24th shortly after 8 p.m. at the Subway shop on the 2900 block of Island Avenue in the city's Eastwick section.

Police say two men entered the shop, ordered sandwiches and paid for them. As the employee opened the cash register, police say one of the suspects pulled out a handgun, jumped over the counter and demanded money.

The employee managed to close the drawer, police say, stopping the man from getting to the cash.

Both men left the store.

You can watch surveillance video of the incident on the Philadelphia Police Department's YouTube channel.

If you have any information on the attempted robbery, you're asked to call the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or by text 773847.
