Authorities say agents with Immigration and Custom Enforcement's homeland security investigations division executed numerous arrest and search warrants in Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Puerto Rico.

Sources told Fox 5 News that the operation is focused on the large-scale trafficking of heroin and cocaine.

700 law enforcement officers from the Secret Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Connecticut state police and several town police departments were involved in the operation.

Homeland Security says more information about the massive law enforcement operation would be announced later Wednesday.
