GLENDALE, Ariz. -

Two motorcyclists have been taken to the hospital after the driver of a car attempted to make a left turn directly in front of the motorcycles.

Just after noon Friday, Glendale Police officers responded to the area of 57th Drive and Grand Avenue for a collision. They say a female driver of a sedan was traveling southeast on Grand when she tried to turn in front of two motorcyclists, traveling northwest on Grand Ave.

Both motorcycles collided with the sedan. The drivers were taken to a local hospital -- the 57-year-old male has serious but non-life threatening injuries, and the 76-year-old male has serious but life threatening injuries.

They were not wearing helmets.

The 48-year-old female driver of the sedan was transported as a precaution.

Both directions of Grand Ave are closed and it could be some time until the road reopens. Traffic is being diverted around the accident.

As of yet, speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the collision.

Glendale Police Vehicle Crimes detectives have assumed the investigation.
