NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Long Island teen is accused of feeding brownies containing harmful toxins to classmates.

It happened Tuesday at Ward Melville High School in East Setauket.

Suffolk County police say several students haD to go to Stony Brook University Hospital after experiencing rapid heart rates and stomach discomfort.  The students were treated and released.

District Superintendent Cheryal Pedisich says that five tenth-grade students suffered from symptoms after heading the suspicious brownies.

Police say a student was arrested as part of the investigation for possession of a so-called gravity knife.  A police source says the student had not threatened anyone with the knife but was simply carrying it.

The police and school officials continue to investigate the incident.
