There's no doubt the suspect caught on tape trying to break into a Germantown child care center Sunday was determined to burglarize the place. After two tries at the locked door, he finally busted in.

"He's victimizing a good business in the neighborhood who offers a service to these people in the neighborhood," said Lt. George McClay from Northwest Detectives.

"Definitely have to be a desperate individual to do something like that," daycare director Charles Alexander told FOX 29.

Once inside, the young burglar can be seen on tape rifling through the Kidz-R-Fit daycare office looking for anything valuable he could find. Finally he settled for an expensive touch screen computer.

"Just lucky there weren't any children there and no one was there to get hurt. Because somebody that desperate probably would have hurt somebody," Alexander said.

The burglar didn't seem to care that the daycare has surveillance cameras everywhere. He tucked the computer into his bag and simply walked out the front door onto Germantown Avenue and made his getaway.

"He has tattoos above both eye brows, and one in the middle of his forehead," McClay said. "He also has tattoos on his neck and hands. And also very distinctive, he's wearing a red sweatshirt along with these red bright sneakers."

Alexander says no children were inside at the time of the break-in, but he's worried the suspect could strike again. He says this crime hit the daycare center right in the wallet.

"We had to fix the doors. Buy a new computer. Things of that nature, things that are a big expense when you're dealing with a child care center," he said. "Hopefully we can get the person that did this and hopefully he can't victimize anybody else."

Northwest detectives say there have been several other burglaries at businesses along Germantown Avenue in recent weeks. They're asking the public for help in finding the heavily tattooed suspect with the red sneakers.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect should call Northwest Detectives.
