DETROIT (WJBK) -

An Amber Alert issued this morning for a 5-year-old Detroit girl has been canceled. The alert was issued when Iyana Oldham's mother reported her missing around 12:15 a.m. Monday. The girl's mother told police that her daughter was taken by an ex-boyfriend who threatened to harm the girl.

The 5-year-old was dropped off with Detroit Police by a family friend around 6:00 a.m. Monday. She identified herself as a caretaker for Iyana and said the little girl had been at a birthday party and was never in danger. She says the child's mother and Johnson have been fighting.

"This was not a kidnapping," she says. "She lied."

Police tell us they have questioned the mother and so far, no charges have been filed. However, if the report does turn out to be false, there could be serious consequences.

"People do lie to the police and we don't want people calling up here just because they have some dispute with a loved one over a child," says Michigan State Police Lieutenant Michael Shaw. "That waters down the system."

Lt. Shaw says filing a false kidnapping report is a four-year felony. Detroit Police are still investigating the incident. We're told Iyana was not hurt.
