Blackhawks' Emery out with lower body injury

Posted: Updated:

CHICAGO (AP) -- Blackhawks goalie Ray Emery has a lower body injury and will not play against Nashville on Friday.

He did not participate in Wednesday's optional practice and missed practice Thursday. Coach Joel Quenneville told reporters he hopes to get Emery back on the ice on Friday but added he will not be available when the Blackhawks host the Predators.

It's not clear whether Corey Crawford (17-4-4) or Emery  (16-1-0) will be the No. 1 goalie once the playoffs start. The Blackhawks lead the NHL with 70 points and both have played well, with Crawford's goals-against average at 1.92 and Emery's at 1.91.

With Emery sidelined, the Blackhawks recalled goalie Carter Hutton from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs on Thursday.

The 27-year-old Hutton has a 26-22-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.72 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 51 games this season with Rockford. He signed with the Blackhawks as a free agent on Feb. 24, 2012.

Forward Patrick Sharp was on the ice Thursday but remains sidelined by an upper-body injury.
