BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

Police in Northampton Township say a man is dead after shooting and killing a woman and then firing shots at an officer Thursday.

Police say the incident started in Feasterville along Bustleton Avenue, when a man shot and killed a woman. A 16-year-old girl was also shot in the hand but is expected to be okay, police said.

The woman was the man's ex-wife, according to police.

Investigators say the man then drove to Northampton, where an officer recognized his car and followed him. According to police, the man jumped out of the car and fired at the officer. Police say the officer was hit but is okay.

The officer returned fire, killing the man, police said.

FOX 29's Omari Fleming reports the officer was released from the hospital not long after the shooting.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m.
