NFL releases 2013 schedule, Lions to open season vs. Vikings

DETROIT (WJBK) -

The NFL released its 2013 schedule on Thursday night and 14 of the Lions' 16 games are scheduled to be on WJBK-TV Fox2.

They will open at Ford Field against the Minnesota Vikings in an NFC North battle on September 8. 

After that, they will hit the road for a pair of games, first against Arizona and then versus Washington in week 3.  The team will close the opening month of the season at home against the Bears.

The Lions will travel to Green Bay in week 5.  They will close out a stretch that features 4 road games in their first six outings when they travel to Cleveland on October 13.  Then it's back home for a pair of games, in week 7 they will host the Bengals and then in week 8 they will welcome the Cowboys to Ford Field.

The team will open November with their bye week.  Then they will be in Chicago on November 10, followed by a game at Pittsburgh.  On Sunday November 24, the team will be at home to face Tampa Bay.  Then 4 days later they will host Green Bay on Thanksgiving in a nationally televised game.  

The Lions open December on the road at Philadelphia.  They close with two of their final three games at home.  They will face the Ravens at Ford Field on Monday December 16th... making it the third straight season Monday Night Football is makes it's way back to Detroit.

The Lions play four of their final six games at home.
