NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A man impersonating a UPS worker terrorized a family on Long Island.

Nassau County police say the man went up to the door of a Barbara Street home holding a box and rang the doorbell.

Police say when one of the women opened the door he put the box down and showed her a gun.  He went into the home and tied up a 35 and 52 year old with plastic ties.

He ransacked the home and grabbed jewelry, credit cards and other personal property from the Elmont home before fleeing.

The women, and an infant boy who was in the house at the time, were not injured.

Police say the man was Black, 20 to 25 years old, 6' tall with a slim build.  He was wearing a UPS jacket, jeans and a brown skull cap.

Police ask anyone with information about the burglary to contact the Crime Stoppers hot line at 800-244-TIPS.
