Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer caused quite a stir when she took the reigns of the Silicon Valley company and revamped some existing policies.

In particular, Meyer decided to banish the work from home policy, stating that it was the right thing to do for the company.  Many people thought this was a serious blow to the working mothers and fathers of the company.

Today, she may have redeemed herself a bit when she announced that Yahoo's maternity police will be extended for both mothers and fathers.

In an email sent to NBC Bay Area, which was the first news outlet to report this story, the company wrote  that these news benefits will "support the happiness and well-being of Yahoos and their families,"

Mothers and fathers can now take 8 weeks if paid parental leave. Mothers can extend their leave by adding on an additional 8 weeks. New parents will also receive $500 to buy items needed for the new baby.
