HPV vaccine dosage examined in new study

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

When it comes to the HPV vaccine, which is designed to prevent cervical cancer, a new study finds the dose may be up for debate.

"It's traditional with these protein vaccines to give two does quite close together within a couple of months of each other and then wait a period of time and give a third dose," said Dr. Simon Dobson from the University of British Columbia.

Now the question for researchers is whether two doses can protect as well as the currently recommended three doses?

In the video report, Deena Centofanti has the findings from a new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
