PHOENIX -

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies say no bomb was found at their new headquarters under construction at Madison and 6th Avenues. Vandalism on the building suggested a possible bomb threat on Wednesday.

Construction workers first saw a message sprayed on the wall outside that says "Bomb inside. No work today. Happy May Day. Stop building prisons for other workers."

Deputies say they believe the message was aimed at Sheriff Joe Arpaio's workplace investigations which have resulted in numerous arrests of immigrants in the country illegally who have used false IDs to get hired.

We're also told Wednesday, May Day, is a popular holiday for anarchists and the stunt may be a prank.

Deputies didn't taking any chances. They sent workers to another construction site for the day and used bomb sniffing dogs to check the building.

The canines were quickly drawn to a lunchbox on the second floor, but deputies say it only contained safety glasses and water.

Deputies found no other evidence of a bomb at the building.

Workers say anyone could have easily climbed a fence or walked through a gate accidentally left open to gain access to the area.

According to deputies, police intercepted an explosive device in Flagstaff that was sent directly to Arpaio at his Wells Fargo downtown Phoenix office mid-April.

Officials say that bomb was made to seriously injure or kill whoever opened the package.

MSCO is investigating the threat.
