PHOENIX -

Cinco de Mayo weekend kicks off Friday, and many will celebrate with a cerveza or margarita.

Drivers beware: there will be an increased number of police on the streets making sure everyone is safe.

Cinco de Mayo DUI checkpoints will be set up across the state so that police can keep drivers who have had too much to drink off the roads.

Celebrators are reminded to have a designated driver or take a taxi home.

Last year, nearly 500 DUI arrests were made on Cinco de Mayo weekend.
