In fact, there has been a dramatic increase in emergency room visits related to medications like Ambien.
The study from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services administration found that nearly 20,000 people, mostly women, were sent to the E.R. in 2010 because of an adverse reaction to the sleeping pills.
People report having reactions like hallucinations, paranoia, confusion and drowsiness.
