ROMEO, Mich. (WJBK) -

A dog was found extremely emaciated in Detroit.  Sprout, a pit bull mix between six months and two years old, is only 20 pounds when she should be around 50.

In addition to being severely underweight, Sprout also has several skin issues.  She is currently receiving treatment at A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue in Romeo.

"Her temperament is awesome.  From the minute we saw her and from the minute anyone came in contact with her, the only thing she did was wag her tail, even though there's no hair on it, and it's covered in scabs.  All she wants to do is snuggle and be loved and cuddled and crawls in our laps and just wants love," said Patti Debono from the rescue.

Sprout could be available for adoption in a few months.
