Braves, minor league teams games rained out

ATLANTA (AP) - Rain has forced the Atlanta Braves to postpone their game Saturday against the New York Mets.

Heavy rain was forecast in metro Atlanta until Sunday morning.

Both teams pushed back their Saturday starters to Sunday. Jonathon Niese (2-2) is scheduled to pitch for New York against Julio Teheran (1-0).

A makeup date has yet to be determined. Tickets already purchased for Saturday can be exchanged for the makeup game or for another game this season subject to availability.

New York won the first game of the 3-game set 7-5 in 10 innings on Friday.

Atlanta, which began the day with a 2½-game lead over Washington in the NL East, has lost three straight and 11 of 16.

New York has won two in a row after losing six straight.

The Braves' minor league teams also have postponed play due to the rain, but fans will get a doubleheader Sunday.

The Gwinnett Braves say tonight's scheduled game against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at Coolray Field has been cancelled. They will play a doubleheader Sunday starting at 12:30 p.m. to make up for the game. Ticket holders can find out more at their website: gwinnettbraves.com.

The Hagerstown Suns didn't live up to their name as their game against the Rome Braves on Saturday at State Mutual Stadium was rained out. The teams will have a doubleheader Sunday starting at 2 p.m. For more on their schedule visit romebraves.com.

    The Indiana Pacers got the better of the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night in game two of the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Pacers defeated the Hawks 101-85 and have now tied the series at one win apiece. The Pacers won on a strong performance out of their star forward Paul George. George led the team in both scoring and rebounds and ended the night with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
