Arias verdict watch: Many drawn to TVs for coverage

Posted: Updated:

People all around the city stopped what they were doing to watch the verdict.

Majerle's in downtown Phoenix is known as a sports bar.  Nail biting, last second plays sending patrons stomping and clapping.

It wasn't like that on Wednesday, but it was intense.

Not the expressions you'd expect as four friends met for a light hearted lunch, but they were caught up in the verdict of the Jodi Arias trial.

The waiting was agonizing.

" find defendant as to count one first degree murder -- guilty."

The four young women, all in their 30s say they were relieved Arias was found guilty.  They say they thought she was arrogant, didn't like her and were upset that she tried to use the domestic violence defense to justify the murder of Travis Alexander.

"The fact that she tried to use something serious to other women is disgusting.  It's that disgusting she would use that to try to save herself when she knew exactly what she the hell she was doing," said Jennifer Cosio.

No one we talked to was unhappy with the guilty verdict.

These women are saying the jury got it right.

"Absolutely.. faith is restored in our judicial system."

"I thought she was gonna get second degree and I'm so glad that didn't happen because what she did was wrong," said Kathy Brown.

FOX 10's Kristen Keogh and Linda Williams report.
