Fox 2 vs. Channel 4 in a charity basketball game

(WJBK) -

A group of reporters, photographers, producers and more drop their microphones for a basketball to help a local charity raise some money.

WJBK Fox 2 and WDIV Channel 4 are used to competing against each other in the world of news.

For one afternoon on Saturday, May 11, the two Detroit news stations will square-off on the hardwood to help Hope United Methodist Church in Southfield raise some money for Camp Hope

Fans of either station are encouraged to attend.

The game will be held at the Hope United Methodist Church in Southfield.

(26275 Northwestern Highway, Southfield 48076)

DOORS OPEN AT NOON.  Tip Off is at 1:00 p.m.

A donation of $5 gets you in the door, proceeds to Camp Hope, a program that offers children the opportunity to challenge their personal limits, build interpersonal skills, explore creative outlets, and enhance their self image.

Rob Wolchek is the captain of Fox 2's team, which includes Charlie LeDuff, Lee Thomas, M.L. Elrick and a number of producers, photographers and other Fox 2 personnel.

Who's on Channel 4's team?  I don't know.  They can write their own article about it.  As a member of the Fox 2 team all I care about is four things.

1.  We raise money for a good cause.

2.  We win.

3.  We win having a good time.

4.  No one gets hurt.

** IN TRUTH THIS REALLY IS ABOUT HAVING FUN AND RAISING MONEY FOR A GOOD CAUSE.**

Last time these two teams met, D-I-V had their way with Fox 2. According to Vegas, D-I-V remains a heavy favorite for this year's match-up.

To prepare for Saturday's game, a few staff members at Fox 2 played a little street ball.  Take a look at the photo gallery to see one example of the fine scoring exhibition fans should expect to see.

May the best team win.  Yea... OK -- May Fox 2 win.   Hope to see you there.
