Demolition Of Seaside Heights Roller Coaster In Ocean Begins

Posted: Updated:
SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. -

The iconic roller coaster that became a defining image in the wake of Sandy's aftermath is finally starting to come down.

The Jet Star Roller Coaster crashed into the ocean during the storm when the boardwalk pier beneath it collapsed back on Oct. 29.

Workers begin Tuesday, but the removal will probably take a couple of days.

The work began on the day that Britain's Prince Harry visited the area, touring some of the shoreline damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The prince has been in the U.S. since last Thursday.
