Big Black Bear Spotted In Bucks County Neighborhood

Posted: Updated:
HULMEVILLE, Pa. -

People in one Bucks County neighborhood are checking their yards tonight.

Somebody snapped a picture of this bear, and tonight people are wondering where he is.

FOX 29's Omari Fleming reported live Wednesday night from Hulmeville, where the bear was spotted.

Several people spotted that bear in Hulmeville. One of the locations was on Zimmerman Lane. All of them want this bear to get the heck out of here.

You would, too, once you get a good look at him. This is one big bear. He is easily 300 to 400 pounds.

Debbie Messina snapped these pictures of the bear roaming through her neighborhood.

A teenaged girl spotted it around 1 p.m. Wednesday on Midway Avenue. Scared to death, she called her dad and, as he was driving around the neighborhood looking for the bear, he then ran into Messina, and curiosity got the best of her.

She said she has seen bears like this in the Poconos, but not this close to home. She hopped in her car and started bear hunting as well.

She and her neighbors spotted the bear hanging out between two others houses.

"Saw the bear between two houses, and I just sat there and started zooming in taking pictures," Messina said. "And I thought, if the bear starts charging me, I'll just take off. I wasn't afraid of it because I knew it was from me to that brick wall over there away.

Messina and her neighbor say that bear took off in the woods.

Now, the gaming commission says this is mating season, so it's typical to start seeing bears in the area here in Bucks County. They believe that it likely came from somewhere up north, maybe the Lehigh Valley area or over in South Jersey.

A lot of people are wondering where that bear is right now, Fleming reported.
